Full Service Interior Design Services for Boulder Homes

Boulder's housing runs from Victorians and craftsman bungalows near Pearl Street to 1950s and 1960s ranches in Table Mesa and Martin Acres. We plan each room around the bones of the house, so the interior reads as one considered story.

A Fort Collins Interior Design Studio, Since 2021

Narrative Interiors is a Fort Collins interior design studio, open since 2021, and we serve Boulder from 3501 S Mason St. In Mapleton Hill, the Victorian and craftsman houses call for careful detailing. Whittier bungalows have low gables and wide porches that shape their rooms. Table Mesa and Martin Acres ranches and split-levels can be reworked with new layouts and finishes. Newlands Tudor homes bring casement windows and steep gables. Projects run from 4 weeks for styling or furniture to 6 to 9 months for a full renovation.

Northern Colorado Interior Design: The Richards Lake Renovation

Mandy managed this Fort Collins renovation from first drawing to final install, the same way we would run a Boulder project.

The Brief

A whole home renovation on Richards Lake Road in Fort Collins.

The Design

Mandy designed the renovation and managed the build with our contractor and trade partners.

The Result

A kitchen with a white quartz island and wood lowers, and a primary bath with a wood double vanity and a freestanding tub.

The Interior Design Process, Step by Step

01

Reach Out

Call or send the form. Consultations are usually scheduled within about a month of your call, and we plan the visit around your schedule.

02

In-Home Design Consultation

Mandy visits your Boulder home, whether a Mapleton Hill Victorian or a Table Mesa ranch, to talk through the space, your style and how you live in it.

03

Design and Approval

Mandy presents the design and you approve it before anything is ordered. For exterior changes in a historic district, the City of Boulder's Historic Preservation office reviews them, so we raise that early.

04

Sourcing and Execution

We source the pieces and carry the project through to install. Renovations are managed with our contractor and trade partners, and the City of Boulder's Planning and Development Services issues the permits.

Hi, I'm MandY, I'm so glad you're here!

Mandy Khaffaji is the principal designer at Narrative Interiors. She holds a degree in Interior Design and Architecture, is an NKBA Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer and is an ASID member. Mandy designs each project herself. For Boulder clients she drives down from our Fort Collins studio, about an hour away, and brings the same attention to a Victorian as to a ranch.

1

Signature Service

Full service design for Boulder remodels and additions, from drawings and finish selections to procurement and contractor coordination. It suits an older Boulder home where the plan, the trades and the details have to agree, and Mandy oversees the project from first sketch to completion.

2

Curated + Collected

Furnishings, styling and architectural detailing for Boulder homes that need a considered finish. Think a craftsman living room that wants layered pieces, or a 1960s ranch where new lighting, trim and furniture give a plain plan more character, without moving a wall.

3

Market-Ready Staging

Staging for Boulder listings, using our own inventory chosen for each home. Buyers there tend to look for light, foothill views and a link to the outdoors, so we arrange rooms to frame them. Most of our staging clients are real estate professionals.

Vision is the art of seeing the invisible.

Interior Design Questions, Answered

What happens at an interior design consultation in Boulder?

Mandy walks through your Boulder home with you, usually within about a month of your call. We talk through what works and what does not, how you use each room, and which service fits. Call (970) 286-9918, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm.

Does interior work in a Boulder historic district need city review?

Check with the city first. The City of Boulder's Historic Preservation office reviews exterior changes in its 10 historic districts, and its pages do not mention interior work. If you are unsure, call them at 303-441-3209. We raise it early when a project touches a facade.

Can you redesign a 1950s or 1960s Boulder ranch without changing the footprint?

Yes. Many of the single-story ranches and split-levels in Table Mesa, Martin Acres and Baseline can be reworked with new finishes, lighting, detailing and furniture. Mandy can also draw a new floor plan inside the existing walls. The scope is set at the consultation.

Do you take on Boulder condos and townhomes?

Yes. Condos and townhomes are a real part of Boulder's housing, including downtown and the Pearl Street area. Mandy plans the layout, finishes and furnishings around the square footage you have, with the same process as a house. Call (970) 286-9918 to talk through your unit.

Is Boulder inside your service area or is there a travel fee?

Boulder is one of the towns we serve from our Fort Collins studio. Our service area is Northern Colorado, and outside it a travel fee may apply. Call (970) 286-9918 with your address and we will confirm whether a fee applies.
